Spellapalooza – Another great year!
May 6, 2014Luis Urrea entertains at Literary Event
December 9, 2015We are thrilled to announce that we are serving MORE children in our community. We have teamed up with Glen Ellyn School District 41 and Churchill Elementary School to bring our outstanding after-school and summer tutoring and mentoring program to Churchill School in the fall of 2016. Over 200 students at Churchill are both participants in the free and reduced lunch program and are ranked in the 30th percentile or lower on recent literacy testing. Our goal is to serve at least 100 of these children replicating the successful model we have employed at Lincoln Elementary School to enable these students to achieve their highest potential.
The GECRC Board of Directors has been working with an expansion team to raise awareness of this need and to raise the necessary funding to put the program into place. Thanks to the efforts of the team including Ursula Bryant, Dean Clark, Leah Harding, Kristin Travers, Erica Carlson, Emily Burt, Lisa Ciosek, Karen Winter, Jodi Herbold, Lisa Brook, Stacy Witcher and Amy Kaiten, we have raised initial funding for this program, but we still need your help to reach our goal of $200,000. This will secure our Churchill program for at least two years.
Please consider a generous donation to move us up to our goal. You can send a check (indicate “Churchill Expansion” on the memo line) to our office or make a donation online.
There are also opportunities to volunteer your time as a tutor at Churchill.
We sincerely thank you for your support!
