The 8th Annual Spellapalooza spelling bee was a success.
The last two teams on the stage were The Bee Quiets from the GE Public Library (sponsored by Central DuPage Kiwanis Club) and Abe’s Word Busters, the youth team from Abraham Lincoln Elementary School (Shown right – sponsored by Abraham Lincoln School and the A.Lincoln PTA). How nice that they each came home with a prize. The Bee Quiets took the Champion prize and Abe’s Word Busters were the Junior Champions. Teams representing the whole community include local schools (all of the District 41 schools and the District 87 high schools), local clubs (Lions Club), local organizations (GE Police and Fire Dept, 1st Congregational Church), local businesses (Marcel’s and The Book Store) and our State winning GBW football team! Police Chief Philip Norton kept the action moving as our emcee. Village President Alex Demos, District 41 superintendent Paul Gordon, Village Trustee Tim Elliott and former GBW principal Pam Zimmerman were judges. This fun events raises money for the wonderful GECRC.
