School Year Volunteer Opportunities
This option is ideal for volunteers who can commit to coming on the same day each week.
Description- Tutors are responsible for providing help on homework in reading, writing, and math. Homework may also include D41 directed computer programs. Once homework is completed, supplementary activities will be provided by a Class Coordinator.
- Tutoring takes place Monday - Thursday from 4:30pm-5:30pm.
- Volunteers choose the day (or days) that work best with their schedule.
- Volunteers are paired with the same student each week.
- Tutoring takes place at Abraham Lincoln and Churchill Elementary Schools.
- High school aged and older

Description- Tutors are responsible for providing help on homework in reading, writing, and math, primarily in a group setting. Tutors must take initiative in discerning daily homework and help needed. Strong math skills are a plus.
- Tutoring takes place Monday - Thursday from 3:30pm-4:40pm.
- Volunteers choose the day (or days) that work best with their schedule.
- Tutoring takes place at Hadley Junior High School and Glen Crest Middle School.

High Impact Tutoring Program at Churchill
District 41 and the Glen Ellyn Children’s Resource Center Parter to Provide a Higher Level of Tutoring for Students
Description- GECRC is partnering with District 41 to provide a NEW H.I.T (high-impact tutoring) program at Churchill School. The goal of H.I.T is to work towards narrowing the achievement gap in the district. This program will support students who show the greatest gaps in learning due to lack of resources and opportunities. Students who attend GECRC are eligible for this specialized academic program.
Tutors must be over 18 years old and complete training through GECRC and D41. This is separate from the current GECRC volunteer requirements. High-impact tutoring in this program will include:
- Small group tutoring (2-4 students in a group) by the same tutor three days per week
- Grades 1-3: 30 minutes
- Grades 4-5: 45 minutes
- Sustained and strong relationships between students and their tutors
- Close monitoring of student knowledge and skills
- Alignment with District 41 curriculum- literacy focused
- Oversight of tutors to assure quality interactions

Summer Volunteer Opportunities
Description
- Summer classroom volunteers assist with a variety of academic activities in a classroom setting, both in groups and one-on-one with students. Reading, writing, and math are the primary subjects covered.
- Summer program dates: 6/24 - 7/25; Camp week 7/29-7/31
- Classroom instruction takes place Monday - Thursday from 9am-12pm.
- Volunteers choose the day (or days) that work best with their schedule.
- High school aged and older
