Primary Services
Our primary services are after-school tutoring and mentoring programs for children in grades K-8 who meet eligibility guidelines. Our sites operate daily during the school year, 3:30-5:30 pm. On Fridays, students participate in a variety of enrichment activities. We also offer a six week summer program. Curriculum is designed by our Program Director and implemented by trained staff and community volunteers. Academic progress is evaluated by a combination of assessment tools including district MAP scores and direct communication with each student’s public school teacher.Eligibility
GECRC serves students within Glen Ellyn School District 41 and 89 boundaries (Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Carol Stream, Lombard, Wheaton). Participation is open to students who attend a school where GECRC has a program and who meet low-income and academic risk guidelines.Collaboration
GECRC values the impact that community collaborations have on GECRC programs and students. Enrichment opportunities, supported by our community partners, further the academic and social growth of students and assist families as they support their children’s educational and social development.Elementary Program
The Elementary Program operates from 3:30-5:30 pm (M-F) during the school year. After school, K-5 students spend an hour eating a nutritious snack (provided by the school district and the local Kiwanis Club) and socializing through supervised activities of their choice (drawing, playing on the playground/gym, etc.). During the second hour of the program, students, along with their volunteer tutors, participate in one-on-one or small group homework assistance. GECRC also offers enrichment activities on Fridays such as soccer teams, book clubs, drawing, music, Chess Club, coding, art, and STEM programs. Our current elementary school program is held daily after school at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School and Churchill Elementary School in District 41 and at our newest location at Park View Elementary School in CCSD 89.

Summer Program
Summer program runs three days per week, for 6 weeks during the summer months, and is open to all elementary and junior high students in D41 and D89 who meet eligibility requirements. Programming is aimed at ensuring all children in need have access to academic and social support during summer break to prevent the "summer slide", and includes classroom instruction, mentorship, enrichment activities, field trip experiences and "camp" week.
